Kingsborough's Honors Program has been specially designed for motivated students interested in taking challenging Honors courses and/or independent study Honors enrichment projects while pursuing their Associate degrees.   Participation in the Honors Program will enrich your college studies and will assist you in transferring to a four-year college of your choice, applying for scholarships, and embarking on a rewarding career.

How You May participate in the Honors Program? Kingsborough students who have completed 12 or more credits (beyond developmental courses) with a grade point average of at least 3.2 are eligible for membership in the Program.  To remain in the program, students must maintain a minimum average of 3.0 and earn at least a "B" in all your Honors courses. Incoming freshmen may be admitted to the Program; please contact Dr. Rachelle Goldsmith, director of the Honors Program, in M377, or call the Honors House at the number given above.

Honors Courses: A list of Honors course offering is accessible by clicking on the link at the top of this page.

Honors Contract Projects: If you cannot find an Honors class that fits your schedule and/or degree program, or you wish to do extra or more in-depth work in a particular course not listed as an Honors course, you have the option to contract with one or more of your professors to conduct a rigorous, independent study Honors Contract Project. Click here for forms.

Contract Project must meet with the Honors Academic Liaison from the appropriate department and course professor to identify a topic, file a weekly plan of action, and attend regularly scheduled meetings with their faculty mentor throughout the term.

Only students who earn a grade of “B+” or higher on their projects will have an Honors notation added to the course on their official college transcript. Please visit the Honors House in M377 to learn more about the Honors Contract Projects and learn about the informational orientations for them.

The Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society Chapter at KCC (called Xi Kappa): To become a member of the prestigious Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, a student must have completed at least 12 credits (beyond developmental courses) and earned a GPA of 3.50 or higher.  For Membership Application, please click here
