Peter M. Cohen has been part of the Kingsborough family for 30 years. Appointed Kingsborough’s vice president of Student Affairs in 2014, he has served in a variety of student-service capacities at the college since 1987.
Cohen managed freshman services and developed the Freshman Year Experience Program, designed to help students adjust to college life and form a meaningful connection with the college.
As vice president for student affairs, he has overseen a broad range of services, including disability services, counseling, career development, athletics and veteran affairs.
Cohen began his professional life as a psychiatric social worker at Coney Island Hospital, providing individual, family and group psychotherapy as well as educational and preventive outreach to the community.
He has a bachelor’s degree in English from New York University and a master’s degree from NYU’s School of Social Work.
He and his wife live on Long Island and are the proud parents of three children, two currently attending college and one college-bound.
