Why is orientation important?

Why is orientation important?

All new incoming freshman and transfer students for the Fall 2023 are encouraged to participate in New Student Orientation. New Student Orientation is designed to provide incoming students with programming and resources that aim to welcome students to campus and help facilitate this new transition to college life. The shared experiences create an atmosphere to answer questions, provide meaningful connections, promote awareness of campus life and understand the expectations of a new student. As a new member of our KCC community, New Student Orientation sets the tone for the beginning of your journey with us.

At New Student Orientation, you can:

  • Interact with other new students

  • Interact with advisors, faculty and other support staff

  • Learn about courses and majors offered at Kingsborough

  • Find out about student clubs, athletics and other aspects of student life

  • Ask questions about your financial aid package or payment plan options

  • Learn about several important resources available to KCC students.

  • Learn about college policies

Being in a new environment can be challenging, so we developed an immersive and comprehensive program to help you transition to our community.

Coordinating and meeting the challenges of the college environment should not be met alone, so our goal is to support you as you acclimate. We do so to ensure your journey is fruitful and successful.
