Interdisciplinary Panel
The Interdisciplinary Panel is a regular feature of KCC Reads and exposes developmental, freshmen and sophmore students to the interdicsiplinary exploration of a single work or topic that is typical of an academic style professional conference. The event is especially productive because most students and other members of the Kingsborough community who attend comprise an informed audience who have read and often already discussed and written about the book under discussion so that the perspectives offered in the course of the panel build on an already established knowledge base of reading and reflection.
Panel Format
The panel is divided into three parts. In the first, there are three to four short presentations from faculty in different departments on a single book or topic. In the second part, panelists respond to and engage with one another's presentations. In the third part, the students and college audience actively question and engage the panel on issues raised in the course of their presentation.Faculty Presenters on Three Cups of Tea
