Recommending Book Purchases

Faculty members are encouraged to participate in collection development at the Kibbee Library.  The subject expertise of the teaching faculty is solicited and valued.  Each year, when funds are made available for book purchase, the requests of the teaching faculty are the first titles ordered.  The Acquisitions Librarian should be informed of new course offerings to ensure that the collection supports the educational programs of the college.

Procedures:
Please check the CUNY+ online catalog to determine if the book is already in our collection, or already on order.

If the Library does not have the book, contact the Acquisitions Librarian, Prof. Cecilia Salber (csalber@kingsborough.edu, (718) 368-5430, Room L207). You may also submit a request online or print, fill out and submit a PDF version of the form to Prof. Salber. Complete bibliographic citation, including the ISBN number, should be provided.  A brochure from a publisher or a page from a catalog are also acceptable.

Due to the budget schedule, book ordering is done only a few months of the year.  In recent years, the bulk of the Library’s book ordering has taken place in the late Fall and Winter.  Therefore, it can be months before your requested books are ordered, delivered, and added to the collection.  Given these circumstances, the library will do its best to expedite your requests.
