 THE BROOKLYN VIRTUAL ARCHIVE

          Information on the Internet about the borough and its neighborhoods

                                                                                                                                                               

The purpose of this guide is to help you find information, both books and web sites, about Brooklyn and

its neighborhoods.

Section A - General sources of information about Brooklyn.

1.

Books – Over 75 titles. (For each one, the following information is provided in the column indicated.)

 

(a)

Subject heading.

 

(b)

Citation (Title, author, edition, place of publication, publisher, year published).

 

(c)

CUNY holdings. KCC’s entries appear in bold print.  Current CUNY students, faculty, and administrators can borrow circulating copies of these titles using (CLICS) CUNY Libraries Inter-Campus Services. 

 

(d)

OCLC (Online Computer Library Center). Links to full-text or online catalogs of local libraries that own a copy of the title as well as other details - image of the cover, subject headings, etc.

 

(e)

BBB (BestBookBuys) - Purchasing information and links to online book sites.

 

(f)

AOR (Amazon Online Reader) / GB (Google Books) - Links to the book’s Table of Contents, an excerpt, the book’s index, etc., publisher, etc.

Web sites – Almost 200 sites. For each one, its author, when provided, appears within parentheses.

 

Section B - Brooklyn Community Districts An index to internet sources providing information for all Brooklyn community districts.

 

Section CBrooklyn Neighborhoods – An index to internet sources providing information about Brooklyn’s neighborhoods.
