Installations that challenge assumptions
of contemporary urbanites regarding the
environment by juxtaposing the natural with
the synthetic, the inviting with the alienating,
the safe with the dangerous – all through the
adroit use of organic form. A simultaneous
validation and refutation of cityscape and a
redefinition of inside-out.

This exhibition considers the function of
free expression in the artist’s paintings by
comparing her current work, created in
New York and Italy, with examples of her
early paintings in the “official” style,
created when she was an art student in
the People’s Republic of China.

Curated by Virginia Creighton, this exhibition brings together seventeen
contemporary painters whose work reflects their personal connections with the
Hudson River. Registered with the Hudson River Quadricentennial
Commission, this exhibition will travel to several venues in New York State.
