About Our Programs
“Anything is possible if you wish hard enough,” writes Sir James M. Barrie in Peter Pan. We wished hard to bring you an exciting season of free and affordable cultural events for all ages, and here it is: Lively Arts and Ideas at Kingsborough 2007-08.
Inside this brochure you will find opportunities to make discoveries, share the fun, and explore the arts with your family, friends, and neighbors. There’s truly something for everyone at Lively Arts and Ideas on the campus of Kingsborough Community College.
Come to a high-flying revival of the Tony Award-winning Peter Pan for just a quarter of the price of a Broadway ticket. Bring your children and grandchildren to plays created just for them, including a Max & Ruby musical and a special adaptation of the Nutcracker ballet. Explore music and dance from around the world each month for free at our Free Sundays concerts. Celebrate Valentine’s Day and salsa with your sweetheart at our New Moon Ball. Invite friends to join you at a hilarious tribute to Shakespeare, dramatic sound plays inspired by the Golden Age of Radio, new works from the highly acclaimed ZviDance, talks by best-selling authors like David Baldacci, art exhibitions in our gallery, student theatre productions, free lunchtime and faculty concerts, and much more.
Our venues are comfortable, intimate, and accessible. Parking is plentiful and free. We are located in Manhattan Beach, right next door to Brighton and Coney Island and a 30-minute drive or less from Bay Ridge, Marine Park, the Rockaways and Howard Beach.
Part of Kingsborough’s mission is to respond to the cultural needs of our community. Come along with us on a magical adventure this season. As Peter Pan says: “All you need is trust and a little bit of pixie dust!”
