Kingsborough Community College has responded positively to the laws and mandates of the Federal Government as articulated by Executive Order #11246 and #11375 as amended. I encourage everyone at Kingsborough Community College to be educated in and understand the Affirmative Action Policy.
Kingsborough Community College’s commitment to Affirmative Action and Equal Employment Opportunity is reflective in its recruiting, employing, retaining and promoting without any regard to race, color, religion, sex, age, national origin, veterans’ status, disability or sexual orientation.
As a part of the City University of New York, Kingsborough Community College believes in a policy of non-discrimination and of providing educational opportunities for the disadvantaged as a means of facilitating their access to a broader range of employment opportunities. While equal opportunity requires non-discrimination, affirmative action is the dynamic component carrying with it the concept of positive, emphatic and energetic efforts to actively advance equal employment.
Kingsborough Community College's non-discrimination policy on the basis of disability is in conformity with the requirements and provisions of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended, and its implementing regulations. Furthermore, the College's policies and practices are in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act effective July 26, 1992. Accordingly, its non-discrimination policy applies to employment by the College and admission to, treatment in, the programs of the College.
In accordance with the requirements of Title IX of the Education Amendments Act of 1972 and the implementation of federal regulations, Kingsborough Community College believes in a policy of non-discrimination on the basis of sex in the operation of the College's educational programs and activities. Federal requirements for non-discrimination on the basis of sex include employment by the College as well as admission to the programs offered by the College.
It is the stated policy of the City University of New York and Kingsborough Community College to prohibit harassment of employees or students on the basis of sex.
Associate Dean Rebecca Fraley-Corrado serves as the acting Affirmative Action Officer and Coordinator for the Disabled and Title IX. She is responsible for monitoring these programs and/or regulations, and for their implementation under the direction of the president. Rebecca Fraley-Corrado is also responsible for monitoring the college's Employment Discrimination Procedures. She can be contacted directly in room A-209 if there are any concerns.

As president of Kingsborough Community College, I encourage the recruitment, retention and development of a diverse workforce. I will continue to support the spirit and goals of Affirmative Action and Equal Opportunity, and require that officers of the administration, faculty and staff be familiar with these regulations to assure compliance in their respective areas of responsibility.
