Mission statement

The Health Education and Lifestyle Management Center (HELM) is aligned to the Office of Health Services. It is a health education resource in the Department of Student Affairs. The primary mission of the Center is to enhance and strengthen individual competence in matters of personal health and well-being. The Center functions as a catalyst for the entire college community by promoting awareness to major health issues, the need for physical fitness and the need for better lifestyle management skills. The Center also provides support to individuals making positive behavioral changes toward well-being.

Statement of Values
The values of the Center are summed up in its motto, "Take charge of your health!" This statement reflects the Center regard for health, education, empowerment and self-sufficiency. Through classroom presentations, screenings and health risk appraisals, health fairs, educational literature dissemination, referrals, course sponsorship and endorsements, research, and maintenance of a video library on health promotion and illness prevention, the Center tries to improve the overall health of those it serves.

The HELM Center is located in Room T7-220.
