Since ancient times cloth was the medium by which story telling was transported through places and time. Much of our vocabulary is derived from the work of sewing, weaving and embroidery. The word "text" derives from the Latin word meaning "something woven" , as in "textile".

Women were the creators of these anonymous works. The women whose work is in this show have taken to this handy work as their medium of choice, and their creations have much to say. Working with thread, wool and beads they share their unique views of the world and their outlook on identity through original configurations of familiar materials.
