K.C.C. Athletics 2007-2008 Season K.C.C. Athletics
KCC MEN’S AND WOMEN’S INDOOR TRACK AND FIELD 2007 – 2008 SCHEDULE

KCC Track & Field Making Waves

Indoor Track & Field, led by Head Coach Dave Loobie, is only half way through the season and the team has already made a great impact on the National level. Faisal Muhammad is currently ranked 1st in NJCAA on the Division I level for the 35lb. weight throw and Jamie Wilson is currently ranked fifteen in the 600Meter.

Faisal Muhammed
Faisal Muhammed is known across campus as a gentle giant. However, in the competitive world of track and field he is often referred to as ‘the beast’. Before coming to Kingsborough Community College, Faisal attended Science Skill High School where he competed as a shot putter for one year. He was recruited heavily to attend Kingsborough and upon his arrival on campus, three more throwing events were added to his resume; the discus, the hammer and the 35lb weight throw. Faisal quickly learned all three events and excelled rapidly at all three. He is currently having a spectacular indoor season with wins at the Terrier Invitational and Seton Hall Invitational. His throw of 18.13 meters in the 35lb weight throw this past weekend in Boston has him ranked number one in the country among all junior colleges. He is also the sole possessor of all Kingsborough throwing records indoor and outdoor and currently holds the CUNY Indoor shot put record.

Jamie Wilson
Jamie Wilson is another one of our student athletes who is currently having a spectacular indoor season. Jamie was recruited across the water from Sheepshead Bay High School where he was part of the track and field team as a sprinter. In his first year at Kingsborough Community College, Jamie had some success as a sprinter by setting two new school records in the 55meters and the 200meters. He is also a two-time All American at the Division Three Outdoor Nationals in the 100meters and 200meters. Despite his success as a sprinter, we decided that it would be in his best interest to move up to the 400meters. Jamie is currently reaping the benefits of that move, as of January 24, 2008 he was ranked number six in the division one junior college national rankings, since then he has moved to fifteen place. Jamie has the second fastest time for the school in the 500meters, coming in behind All-American standout Ray Miley who is now at the University of South Carolina.

Jamie and Faisal have qualified for the Indoor Track & Field Nationals which will be held on March 7-9 at Eastern Illinois University. With tons of time to go Coach Loobie expects great things.

Attached is the Indoor Track & Field Schedule. Hope to see you at the next game.
