The goal of the Kingsborough Community College Science Technology Entry Program (KBCC STEP) is primarily enrichment in experience of science, the scientific method, and hands-on research to 9th and 10th grade students from High Schools. Students meet on 25 Saturday mornings during the academic year for hands-on laboratory activities in biology, chemistry and physics. Students also meet with faculty mentors for 3 hours during the week at their schools. KBCC STEP focuses on the formative Freshman and Sophomore years, when students often do not have access to a research class. Students present their research projects at the Annual STEP Conference in Albany, where they have an opportunity to compete with students from state-wide STEP Programs.
