Physical Therapist Assistant Program

Admissions Requirements

Students may enter the college as physical therapist assistant majors.  However, admission into the advanced courses is accomplished via a competitive process.

Students complete an initial semester of pre-requisite course work in: freshman level English, general psychology, general statistics, and anatomy and physiology.  To be eligible for admissions consideration, students must maintain a minimum grade point average of 2.8.  In addition to completing the pre-requisite courses, student must complete a minimum of 25 hours of exposure to physical therapy services, provide a letter of recommendation from a physical therapist working in the exposure facility, and submit a writing sample on an assigned topic.  Top candidates are interviewed by a panel of faculty.  A maximum of 24 students per year are admitted.

Typically students submit admission applications during the fall semester while completing the pre-requisite coursework.  Applications are available each year in early October.  Completed applications must be submitted no later than mid-November.  Exact deadlines vary slightly from year to year.  Applicants are advised to contact the program director for specific dates.  A new class is admitted once per year and begins the advanced coursework each spring semester.  Transfer students are considered for admissions.  Transfer students should contact the program director to discuss transfer credit and college admissions policies and procedures.
