Biology 11 Competency Measure -

Evaluation of Diabetes Reports

Allied Health Program: Program Outcome 3 - Apply knowledge to distinguish health from homeostatic imbalances (disease)

Directions:  Students work in groups to develop a comprehensive understanding of diabetes.  Each student is

assigned one aspect of the disease such as “diabetes and retinopathy”.  Individual reports are submitted.

This assessment is graded according to the following criteria.  Passing grade is 70%.

1.  Presentation follows assigned format  (Name, title, outline)

2.  Etiology section is reasonable.

3.  Student clearly points out the differences between type I and II diabetes.

4.  Students reasonably present their specific, assigned aspect of the disease. Submission of supporting materials such as photographs, charts, and graphs are encouraged.

5.  Student discusses current and emerging treatments.

6.  Bibliography is included.
