Biology 11 Competency Measure -

Evaluation of Students’ Summary Statement in their Anthropometric Reports

Allied Health Program: Program Outcome 5 - Solve a biomedical problem through analysis and interpretation of tabulated and graphical data.

Directions:  Students carry out the Anthropometry exercise in the Biology 11 laboratory.  The associated study sheets are completed (including collection of all data and data analysis) and submitted - this constitutes the Anthropometric Report.  The final page of the report contains a summary statement which is addressed in this assessment.

This assessment is graded according to the following criteria.  Passing grade is 70%.

1.  Student has listed all required and collected individual data (height, weight, # lbs. over or under weight, % over or under weight, BMI, % body fat, and waist/hip ratio).

2.  Student interprets collected, individual data based on “norm” charts.

3.  Student suggests several lifestyle changes, if warranted, that could be made to enhance health and well-being regarding the parameters measured in this study (e.g., lose weight, exercise more).

4.  Student lists factors that could affect these measurements (e.g., measurement errors, equipment limitations).
