Your campus Photo ID is your library card. The fourteen digit barcode number beginning with 2277…., along the side of your ID, is your Library Identification Number.

All library patrons: students, faculty and staff must present a valid campus ID in order to check out items from the library; no other form of ID will be accepted.

You must activate your ID at the Circulation Desk of your home campus. This will enable you to use the MY ACCOUNT feature of CUNY+ to renew your books

Replacement cost for an out-of-print book is $85.00 plus a $25.00 processing charge and accrued overdue fines.

If a Lost and Paid for book is found within the fiscal year (July 1 - June 30), the replacement cost of the book will be refunded.

Processing fees and overdue fines are not refundable.

Fines and replacement fees can be paid by cash or money order at the Kingsborough Circulation Desk. Personal checks will not be accepted.

Overdue fines can be paid at any CUNY library. Book replacement fees must be paid at the owning library.

If a CD which accompanies a book is lost or damaged, the current cost of replacing the book will be charged.

The Kingsborough library allows three renewals of circulating books, unless the book has been requested by someone else.

An item may be recalled at any time. Recalled items are due as requested. Recall fines accrue at a rate of $1.00 per day to a maximum of $50.00. Users with overdue recalled items may not check out additional material.

Reserve items may only be renewed at the Circulation Desk.

Renewals will not be granted if:

·         There is a block on the borrower’s record due to fines and/or overdue books.

·         The item has a Hold or Recall.

·         The renewal limit has been reached.

Online Renewals are processed through the MY ACCOUNT feature of CUNY+, CUNY’s Online Catalog.

Click here for instructions on Online Renewals.

For a print version of: How to Access MY ACCOUNT and Renew Books from Home, ask at the Circulation Desk at the time of borrowing.

The Kingsborough Library sends all library notices: Overdue notices, Bill Summaries and Hold request letters to patrons as a courtesy.

It is the patron’s responsibility to keep the library informed of any change of street address, E-mail address and telephone number.

All library notices are being sent via Kingsborough E-mail.

Please note that whether or not you receive the courtesy library notice you are responsible for returning your material by the designated due date and for paying any overdue fines and replacement charges.

Patrons with overdue books will be blocked from borrowing materials at Kingsborough and throughout the CUNY libraries.

Patrons are blocked from borrowing additional materials from all CUNY libraries if they have unpaid fines exceeding $5.00.

A library stop will be placed on a student’s record with the Registrar once a bill is generated for unreturned library materials. The library stop will remain in effect until the materials are returned and fines are paid or the replacement charges are paid.

What is a HOLD? A Hold Request can be placed on a regular CUNY book that IS on loan to a patron.

What is CLICS (CUNY Library Inter-Campus Services)? A CLICS Request can be placed on a regular CUNY book that is NOT on loan. A CUNY patron can borrow a book from another CUNY Library and have the book sent to the CUNY library of their choice for pick up.

All library patrons in good standing may place a request on library materials

Patrons with blocked records may not place requests on materials

Reserve books, Reference books and Media items may not have requests placed on them.

Only items listed in the CUNY + Catalog may have requests placed on them.

CD's and DVD's which accompany books cannot be requested.
