Babette Audant, Assistant Professor, earned her Ph.D. in Earth and Environmental Sciences from the CUNY Graduate Center. Her dissertation focuses on New York City’s public food markets in the early and mid-20th century. In addition to her doctorate, she has earned an MPA (Baruch College, CUNY); BA (Wesleyan University); and AOS (Culinary Institute of America). Babette serves on the Boards of the Association for the Study of Food and Society (ASFS) and the National Council for Workforce Education (NCWE). At KCC, she is the Executive Director of the Center for Economic and Workforce Development (CEWD), and oversees the Urban Farm, in addition to managing a number of major workforce development grants. She also serves as the co-Chair of the Culinary Arts Curriculum Committee, and on the Tourism & Hospitality Department P&B. Babette began teaching at KCC after a decade in the restaurant industry, starting in Prague, and ending in New York. Along the way, she worked in classical French kitchens, in an Austrian pastry shop, and in front of a wood-fired oven.
